AirMech Strike is a competitive multiplayer video game developed by Carbon Games. It uses a Free-To-Play model (F2P) whereas AirMech Wastelands is a paid game.
The game takes inspiration from the strategy game Herzog Zwei available on the Sega Genesis.
Description[]
Originally released on October 5, 2012, AirMech is a revolutionary action-strategy game that puts you in the battle as a giant transforming robot!
Forget everything you think you know about real-time strategy (RTS) games, because AirMech puts you directly in command of a powerful transforming robot to dominate the battlefield.
From the air, build and position your units anywhere you want. Then instantly transform into robot mode and fight alongside them!
Level up to unlock new AirMechs and Units, customizing your army to suit your unique play style.
Join multiplayer games featuring ranked-custom 1v1, 2v2, or custom 3v3 for the ultimate in cooperative team play. Play with friends or be matched against opponents of similar skill level.
You can also test your skills in Survival missions with players cooperatively defending against incoming waves of enemies via player made custom maps.
AirMech combines shooting, strategy, even “tower defense” to create an all-new class of game that you can play right now in your browser!
How To Play[]
AirMech was available on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 that include six different ways to run the Game. The console versions (known as AirMech Arena) are completely split from the PC version.
Available Platforms[]
Amazon[]
Currently no different than the PC version below.
PC Stand Alone Client[]
This is one of the less common ways to play, but is the most reliable. It can be downloaded directly from Carbon's website here. You don't need to get your account approved anymore; anyone with a Carbon account can play. The PC version is cross-play compatible with Steam (i.e. you can play a game with someone who is playing via Steam).
Steam[]
The Steam version of AirMech isn't different from the PC version, but it has the ability to invite your friends to the lobby/matchmaking queue via Steam which was removed for bugs. Steam is compatible with the PC version of AirMech and can play with it (see above) and can be used to get the Sentry Turret unit and Companion Cube flair. You will need Steam installed on your computer to run it. The game may be downloaded on Steam here.
Players who make purchases through the Steam service will also be able to get Steam Trading Cards which allow them to craft cards together in order to get unique Steam chat emoticons and Steam player profile backgrounds.

Android[]
Currently unavailable to the general public, but is being developed. Originally coded for a trade show.
Google Chrome (NaCl)[]
Google Chrome was the Native Client (NaCl) for AirMech. It is the easiest but also the laggiest way to play the game. AirMech app can be installed at Chrome App Store within the Chrome Browser and needs manual updates. Unlike other platforms, Google Chrome's multi-platform feature enables Chrome AirMech to be playable on Mac OS X as well as Linux.
Chrome AirMech was the only way to get the Chrome Saucer variant without the Player Market. Upon unlocking Chrome Saucer skin can be used on other platforms too. Chrome AirMech playerbase is dedicated to multi-platform Chrome users but no other. Chrome players can chat with other platforms' players but can only play with only other Chrome players isolating the playerbase.
iOS[]
The iOS version is still to be determined when it will be available or if another version will be ported to iOS.
Ouya[]
An Ouya Console was required to play it. This platform offered the the Ouya Pet, which is exclusive to this version. Formerly a PAX demo version was shown. Ouya servers shut down on June 25th, 2019[1].
PS4[]
The PS4 version is of Airmech Arena which was free for download on the Playstation Store and was Ubisoft Supported. Ubisoft Support shutdown on September 6th, 2020.
Xbox 360/ One[]
The Xbox versions of Airmech Arena was free for download on the Xbox Marketplace and was Ubisoft Supported, so both versions of the game on the consoles had Uplay integration. They were virtually identical, but of course the Xbox One version runs smoother than the 360 version. This version's servers went down on September 6, 2020, though all in-game content can continue to be used. The store was closed for any additional purchases after July 10, 2020[2].
Spin-offs[]
Technically not a spin-off, AirMech Arena is basically the original game on console platforms, circa 2013, slightly renamed and managed by Ubisoft.
AirMech Wastelands is a standalone RPG-style campaign and cooperative game featuring a story related to that of the original game.
AirMech Command is a virtual reality version of the game. This game has different gameplay than the classic AirMech. Oculus forum here.
AirMech Miniatures was to be a physical, real world strategy game featuring miniatures of the units and actual AirMechs from the game. The Kickstarter project was cancelled because the game's designers wanted to redo it in a better way. There has been no news since its cancellation August 17, 2014.
