Nesthorn

Description[]

Nesthorn is an official Carbon map that is currently in the 1v1 and 2v2 matchmaking map pools. You may also select and play Nesthorn in custom lobbies.

"The kingly peaks of the region's tallest mountain range make a perfect support base for aerial raids... for those who can maintain control over them."

Each side starts with a fortress that has 3 sockets. The closest outpost is a neutral factory that is occupied by 4 Soldiers, it is also defended by 2 T45s. The next outpost is a neutral powerstation that is occupied by 2 Brutes and 2 SAMs, it is also defended by a Longhorn and a Seeker. The center outpost is occupied by 4 Brutes and is defended by 4 Busters, 2 T99's, and 2 Seekers in total. On each side, there is a single HAAT on the main path. The most infamous feature on Nesthorn is the long single lane that connects the middle outposts, it is the most lengthy and visible path in the game.

Strategy[]

Both sides should be able to capture 2 outposts in about a minute. The factory can be handled with just a mech, which gives enough time to build 2-4 tanks in order to use them to help capture the powerstation. At the next powerstation, tanks can be placed to pick off the neutral Longhorn and clear the outpost. Rarely the opposing side may choose to cheese the factory on your side of the map with a group of infantry at this time. A tank line should start forming across the gap from the factory, it will fend off units that are sent from the opposing power station and give a safe angle to approach the center outpost. Make sure the opposing side is not rushing from their factory to your powerstation.

When both sides control 2 outposts, a standard midfight is done for control of the center outpost. Players most often approach the center outpost by placing a pair of tanks to kill the Seeker and Buster with firepower support from a mech. Either try to carefully place a tank to clear the Brutes or use a pair of tanks with mech support to kill a set of T99 and a Buster. At this point, a tank line closer to the center outpost should form. The backline outposts are often targets for harassment and cheesing in this state of the game. Nesthorn infamously known for long games due the long single lane, even with a 3 vs 2 outpost advantage, the side that controls the center outpost lacks a good way to approach an opposing outpost and coming back from being down 2 to 3 outposts is hard to think of with no good ways to approach any of the opposing outposts. If you have an artillery unit, it can fire across the gap and damage the opposing factory, this is one of the best options for the side that controls center outpost.

Trivia[]

  • Nesthorn used to have the same base design as Duel before the redesign of Duel.
  • Nesthorn has a cluster of 3 Sockets, sometimes called a farm.
