Description[]

Simple

Dust is an official Carbon map that is currently not in the 1v1 or 2v2 matchmaking map pools. To play on Dust, you may select it in a custom map lobby.

"The mineral extraction town of Mercur was deserted long before the War. The ghosts of many centuries of miners are the only company to the echoes of cannon and missile fire in what is now a smuggler's waystation."


Each side starts with a fortress that has 4 sockets. The closest outpost is a neutral factory that is occupied by 4 Level 3 Creeps. The next outpost afterwards is a neutral powerstation that is occupied by 2 Brutes and 2 SAM, it is also defended by a T45 on a socket. The center outpost is occupied by 2 Brutes and 2 SAMs, it is defended by 2 T99's. Near the center bridges and on the low ground, on each side there is a lone neutral Longhorn and a group that consists of a single Longhorn and a single Seeker that defend the low ground paths.

Strategy[]

Both sides should be able to capture their 2 outposts between the fortress and the center outpost in about a minute. The most common approach to the center of the map is to maintain a strong presence at the center high ground right next to the outpost. Control of the center position of the map will cover most of the approaches that the opposing side can attempt as center and side routes are covered. The low ground is an important position to maintain as it allows players to fallback and use Artillery and Tesla Towers to try to keep the outpost neutral. Side pushes that consist of vehicles and cheesing the backline outpost near the enemy fort are something to consider when both sides are locked into a long stalemate.

Trivia[]

  • Dust was originally named Simple, but was changed and graphically updated in Beta Build 28323.
  • The two sides on Dust are asymmetrical. The left side has a distinct tactical advantage.
  • Dust is a cropped and re-sized version of Thar.
