Characteristics[]
The Buster is a slow-moving tank with increased front armor and a strong, giant cannon. It cannot fire while moving and has no turret movement whatsoever, requiring the entire tank to turn itself in the direction of its target.
Advantages
- Extra 50 armor on the front. Effective against slow units that take a while to reach the Buster's backside.
- High damage and armor-piercing. Great against outposts, fortresses, and clusters of defending heavy units.
- Slightly higher attack range compared to most tanks (but not most stationary turrets). If placed precisely it can attack from a distance without receiving damage of its own.
Disadvantages[]
- Must turn entire tank chassis in order to rotate, making it not just inefficient against light/fast units but very hard to defend itself against them. Can be distracted for longer than most other units.
- Cannot fire at targets while moving. Can be vulnerable when charging towards the enemy if not adequately protected.
Strategies
- Try dropping Busters off at the target location instead of ordering them to go there, as they will take a while to get there and are not able to defend themselves adequately against ambushes.
- When leading a Buster assault, put a Turtle near the enemy to distract them and give the Busters time to aim their shots without taking damage.
- The Buster's increased frontal armor allows them to function like a shield for other units, so if the enemy is assaulting your base with heavy tanks through a chokepoint, you can transport prebuilt Busters there to block the path and take the brunt of the enemy's firepower while returning high armor-piercing rounds in return. Since the Buster sacrifices mobility and rear durability for a cheaper cost, this is almost as effective as a Goliath defense while being more cost-effective (in the right scenarios). This will not work as well if there are infantry units in the enemy army, or if the enemy army is dropping distraction units near the base (like the Turtle), so make sure to have a versatile defense to check these countermeasures.
Overview[]
The Buster, named for its ability to "bust" tank lines, is a force to be reckoned with. Although it does not possess some of the more "tanky" aspects of the Gemini or Longhorn, its extremely high base damage and fortified front armor allow it to deal massive damage if untouched. The Buster takes reduced damage when hit on the front, making it a great choice when defending against tank pushes.
Unlike regular tanks, whose cannons are mounted on a rotating turret, the Buster's cannon is mounted to the entire tank, meaning that the entire tank must turn to fire at its target. Use with caution as Airmechs will be able to strafe around this tank without taking any damage due to its slow rotation speed. It is recommended that you place this tank behind a wall of either Turtles or T99s. Additionally, a Seeker or Flakker can be used to support against enemy airmechs.
This unit is a poor choice when making offensive pushes, as the Buster cannot fire at targets unless they are directly in front of it, and will be completely vulnerable to fire until it can stop to turn itself again. As such, the buster is best used as a defensive, or a "microed" unit, meaning a unit that a Airmech constantly moves around in order to deal more damage. Due to the stationary nature of it's combat abilities, it is extremely effective at guarding choke points, or other routes frequently traveled on by the enemy.
